What is Youth Leadership Academy?

YLA is a special event designed to increase youth leadership training opportunities for youth in Kittitas County. This training is made available through a Drug Free Communities grant managed by Kittitas County Community Network that you can attend for FREE. It is our hope that every youth who attends this academy takes away something useful and valuable from this experience.

Low ropes is an opportunity for the students to get to know each other through a series of activities that are both interactive and tons of fun!

There are three different activities offered throughout the weekend to explore different means of communication.

Over the weekend we have the opportunity to say thanks for being able to use the property at Lazy F camp. We do this by partaking in small projects around the property.

High ropes is a great opportunity for you to conquer your fears while being supported by your peers.

What People Have To Say

  • The most important thing I learned about being a leader is to listen to what other people have to say.

  • All people can become leaders and play an important role in the community.

  • Quiet people have the potential to be leaders just as much as loud people do.

  • Anyone can be a good leader, everyone has different traits that help them be one.

  • The most important thing I learned about being a leader was I have the strength to be one.

  • I learned that everybody can be a leader.
