Community Involvement

Volunteer to help plan and implement the Kittitas County Youth Leadership
Academy or sponsor youth to attend.

Participate in the substance abuse prevention, intervention, treatment, and
aftercare community needs assessment.

Volunteer for a child safety fair and car seat clinic (call to find out when
these events are scheduled).

Provide injury prevention presentations.

Participate in policy review and development in schools and community government.

Put your techno-savvy skills to work. Help develop a website or online resource
for a community program.

Help change community norms about underage drinking; participate in the Community
Education and Social Marketing Committee.

Provide a space and/or food for a community meeting.
Actions for Community

Create programs, including volunteer work, where young people can grow, explore
their options, succeed, and feel good about themselves without alcohol or drugs.

In the community, deliver the message that underage drinking and drug use are not okay.

Organize groups to change community thinking about underage drinking and drug use.

Support programs that help youth and adults already involved with drinking and drug use
access treatment and support.
- Create friendly, alcohol-free places where teens can gather.

Help people learn about local laws, policies, and the latest research on underage drinking and
drug use.

If your business serves alcohol, make sure all staff and volunteers have attended alcohol
services trainings.
